Our starting point is to seek a full understanding of the client’s aspirations for the project. We carry out detailed analysis of the brief and the site, which forms the basis for the generation of imaginative solutions for meeting the client’s needs. Throughout the design process we will test the performance of the proposal against the client’s aims, and use models, drawings and computer visualization to help explain and develop design ideas.
Our flexible methods of working mean that we can carry out feasibility studies quickly to assist our clients with project planning, often working with a quantity surveyor to provide initial cost estimates. We also carry out development option appraisals, including research into the building and site in terms of urban design, historic setting and significance, planning and physical site constraints.
AAB architects work collaboratively with the client and other members of the design team. When appointed as lead consultant, we are the client’s main point of contract, and guide and co-ordinate the overall process to ensure an integrated design approach. We will advise the client of the requirements for planning approvals and work with a planning consultant if required to develop a strategy for the development control process.
We can manage the project from start to finish, including the administration of the building contract and inspection of the works to check conformity with the contract documents. When the project is under construction we work proactively with the contractor to minimize disruption to the client, and reduce the risk of delays.
