We provide services to local education authorities and directly to schools and nurseries. Budgets are often constrained, and any intervention in a school building must be targeted for maximum benefit. We are experienced in helping the client define their brief, and working closely with schools to deliver projects, often with the existing building in occupation.

We have designed new nursery buildings, and converted existing buildings to create new nurseries. We advise clients regards Ofsted’s requirements for accommodation, and aim to create stimulating environments for nursery-aged children.

Recent projects include adapting existing buildings so that they perform better. This may involve making the centre more accessible and inviting to the community it is serving, providing facilities for younger children, or creating opportunities for more varied play.

We have worked on a number of old London School Board buildings that have needed alteration to enable the modern curriculum to be delivered. These schools often need works to their entrances to make them more accessible.

Special needs projects include a new primary school for deaf children and alterations to a respite centre, providing services for children with severe and complex disabilities. We have also carried out alterations to existing pupil referral units, and created spaces within schools for children with special learning needs.

We have designed a number of multi-use games areas in school playgrounds, to improve the play potential of external spaces and provide for National Curriculum sports.
