Within Rhyl Primary School a new Learning Support Unit has been established, as part of the Excellence in Cities programme. The objective is to provide a dedicated teaching space for children who have become disengaged from learning, providing education away from the normal classroom environment. The scheme involved creating a new mezzanine floor above a corridor, linking this with an existing space to provide a larger teaching space. To give the unit its own identity, it was given its own entrance, linked to the mezzanine above by a new staircase. This refurbishment project was carried out for Camden LEA.
