A space of 80m2 was designed as a studio apartment for a single occupant. Occasional overnight visits by relatives and friends had to be accommodated. The requirement for extensive built-in storage space is used to form the main separation between spaces. Given a rough, empty shell, the choice is made to insert only sufficient comforts to inhabit the space. Successive layers screen and line over the original building shell. They become smoother, finer, more precise, more expensive. The ceiling planes, opaque glazed screens, lacquered furniture, and polished floors reflect natural light into the depth of the space.
