Hampshire house retrofit

January 2021

We are delighted to be appointed to upgrade and refurbish a 1960s house in Hampshire, built in a Lutyens-esque style on the site of the walled kitchen garden of a nearby 18th century country house. Typical for the time, conservation of energy was not a priority and the house contains minimal insulation. We are working with building services engineer Freeman Beesley to develop a retrofit strategy to insulate and service the building to reduce the large carbon footprint of its heating and hot water systems and improve the comfort of its occupants. The strategy will be integrated with other aspects of the brief, including improving the flow of spaces both internally and externally, whilst keeping the character of this unique building.
